How "Stella" Got Her Groove Back.

After having gone through some serious "pulling of the teeth" with yesterday's birthday card, and after getting my craft feet wet again, I discovered that making cards has GOT to be my favorite thing about crafting.  I do love making mini albums, but they take too long.  Making one or two page layouts is a bit faster, but after 4 layouts, there's no more space in my room to display them (unless "Santa" brings me and installs high shelves in my craft room).  Altering projects are fairly quick, but they too take a lot of room to display and my plan is to be clutter-free in 2012.  (I give all the credit to that show "Hoarders").

Anyway, so after pulling myself together for a 2nd birthday card, I realized why I love making them.  #1 - they're quick.  #2 - I get to use my copic markers & practice.  #3 - I get to use all those 6x6 paper pads that I've been hoarding.  #4 - I get to use all the beautiful flowers & bling that are very expensive and I also like to hoard.  #5 - I get to share my creativity with you daily or at least tri-weekly.  #6 - the photos are easy to take, upload & watermark.  #7 - I get to use the same images over and over and find new ways of making them look different.  #8 - I stay clutter-free because these are cards that are either purchased or given away.  #9 - Did I mention it's the quickest crafting that can ever be done??  and the best reason of all #10 - I get to see the reaction on the face of the receiver.  It is just so priceless & rewarding in itself.

So, with that being very expressively said, I want to share with you another birthday card.

I kinda cheated because I had already colored "Stella" from The Greeting Farm many months ago and every time I went to color in my copic station (I've become a little bit of a station snob, huh?  LOL), I'd grab "Stella" from the batch of pre-colored images and wondered when/if/how I was ever going to use her.

So Friday, when I was done with the torture the craft fairies put me through with the 1st birthday card, I decided I would select one of the pre-colored images I had in my stash and build on that.

To me, "Stella" has a 50s feel.  She's very "Old Hollywood Glam" and very "Belle of the Ball".  I love her so much, that I always refer to her as "Stella" and not just "that stamp"... LOL.  When I originally colored her in, I immediately thought she would be great to put on a birthday card for a specific friend.  However, that friend had requested her card to be red or pink, but pre-colored "Stella" was already in blue.  *sigh*  This was before I had purchased "Stella".  You see, "Stella" was a pre-stamped image that I received in a RAK [Random Act of Kindness] from my friend Sharon, that I instantly fell in love with.  But this birthday card was not going to be from me (per se), it was go to be from our mutual friend.  So it was "okay" to use her for the card.

Long story short, I pulled out my Echo Park "Happy Days" paper pad that matched perfectly with "Stella's" 50s style, and it quickly came together.  Using bling, flowers, lace trim, MFT Die-namics and a little love & care, I was able to create a very sweet birthday card.

I'm sorry for the chatty blogging, but I feel like I have so much time to make up for.  hehe.

Until next time (which I don't know when that'll be), be blessed.
