1 2 3 Challenge

This "1 2 3 Challenge" is hosted by The Paper Variety.

You pick which elements you want to incorporate towards your project.

I chose 1 border sticker, 2 sheets of paper and 3 buttons for this "Thank You" card.

How to make Mickey Mouse Treat Goodie Bags

Hi Bloggers.

I wanted to share how I made these Mickey Mouse treat bags for my son's 1st birthday party.  The theme is obviously Mickey and I figured I can save money to get a really nice cake and to have good food by making a few of the paper items that I will incorporate.

You will need the following:
1 pack of small black paper bags (at Michael's for less than $4 for 16).
2" circle punch.
1 3/8" oval punch.
Any kind of glue or adhesive.
White, Black and Red cardstock.

To begin you punch out 2 oval shapes out of the white cardstock, and 2 circle shapes out of the black cardstock.

Starting with the bag fold facing down, adhere the red cardstock (measured and cut down to 2 1/2 by 3 1/2) down to the very bottom of the black treat bag.

The reason the fold faces down is because when it is opened you want the red "Mickey pants" to face the outside of the bag.

Glue the 2 white oval shapes onto the red cardstock at the bottom leaving 1/2 inch on the outer edges to make sure you have an exact alignment.

The 2 black circles will either go high up on the edge of the bag or a bit toward the middle.  It all depends on how you like it better.  Be careful not to glue the entire half of the circle as a portion of it sticks out from the bag and will not need adhesive.

Once you're done, you will have 16 treat bags that cost you less than $5 (given you already have most of these items in your craft room), and everyone gets to go home with something personalized.

If you want, you can add a tag or something to add your child's name to the bag.  Being that these bags were created to be used with the Candy Buffet that I will have, I won't need to personalize it.  I am also making Mickey Chocolate Pops which will have a "Thank you" tag wrapped around it.

Stay tuned for other Mickey Mouse Birthday inspired projects as I take advantage of the next few months to prepare for the party.

If you would like to see this project done live, I have recorded a video on YouTube that can help you along and better explain the process.  Don't forget to pause the music player.

Thanks for stopping by and don't forget to follow my blog.

Birthday Card for Dad

Hi Everyone, *waves*

I'm back with a birthday card.  I honestly had no intentions of doing my dad's birthday card yet, being that I have a week left to do it and I ALWAYS procrastinate, but as I was sitting in front of my laptop watching all the hauls and videos on youtube, I decided that each day I would make at least 1 craft thing.  Whether it's a card for sale, a card for someone, some jewelry, a craft page, some organizing, a video, etc.  So today I was able to do 2 things.  I uploaded a video and I made this card.

The image was given to me in a RAK by Sharon (smscrapper on YT) and as soon as I saw it I thought of giving it to dad.  It's so funny when he told me last week "My birthday is April 6 and I don't want any clothes.  I already have too many.  So..."  Like, my dad has NEVER in his life mentioned his birthday coming or has he EVER hinted on what he doesn't want.  So, as I sat thinking about all the possibilities for gifts, I figured something in the area of fishing (which is his favorite pass time) would be perfect.  AND it goes great with the image that I knew I would be using.  Now, I don't know what to get him since he has so many fishing rods, and accessories, etc.  The thing is that they are stored away (he's a hoarder) and I don't know if they are in good condition, rusty, broken (he's a hoarder) and well, I would love to get feedback from you on any ideas you might have.  Remember I have 1 week and it has to be within a budget... meaning I can't afford a fishing boat!  lol

I used a few patterned papers including Basic Grey, and the one thing I do remember (or recognize) is the strip of green fishes was from a border sheet from Cosmo Cricket.  I don't remember the collection so I'm not able to share that with you.  But if you want to research it you are more than welcome.  I distressed a few of the edges.  Colored his skin with copic markers and the rest with color pencils.  I tried to give his hat and clothes a worn look by mixing brown, green, orange, black and blue.  The fishes were colored in also, but I wanted them to stand out so I used distress stickles in peeled paint.  The red pearls are from a multi-colored Recollections pack that I got at Michael's for 99 cents.  And for the dark brown mat behind the boy I used Spellbinders Nestabilities Deckled Rectangles Large.

I think I'm getting better at cutting around the images.  I love those darn Tonic springy scissors!

I used 3 sets of Stampin Up oval punches to highlight the sentiment and propped it up with dimensionals.

For the inside of the card I incorporated some of the same pieces.

I hope you have been inspired and will making something special for your dad on his birthday.

Thank Heaven For Little Girls

Hello my sexy bloggers,

I recently ran across this blog hosted by The Paper Variety that was having a giveaway for anyone who wanted to enter. The theme was "Tic-Tac-Toe" and basically I had to create a paper project using 3 elements shown on the grid in a vertical, horizontal or diagonal order.

I chose to do the one on the left going down. 2+ flowers, Baby theme, Make a layout.

I thought using the photo of my 2 nieces was perfect. I hope my younger niece Sierra counts as a baby for this layout. =)

Here is what I came up with.

Happy Birthday Cards

Hello fellow bloggers.

This week I've been challenging myself to try new things. Techniques that have been around for years, that I've known about, but haven't tried due to being scared that I might be turned off by it if it doesn't come out right. The latest thing I tried is paper piecing. It's my new love!! Since I have a few copic stamps in stock and since I wanted to use my 5 copics and make sure I know how to really use those 5 (lol) I decided to make a card using a stamp by C.C. Designs. It's called "Swiss Miss - Rosalie with roses" and she was so easy to put together. I colored her hair with regular color pencils. The cutting itself takes a bit of time, but it was actually relaxing. Put some nice worship music on and cut away!

I used the Cosmo Cricket Nutmeg collection for her clothes and the cards.

I hope you enjoy these 2 cards and are inspired. If you are interested in purchasing them, they are available in my etsy shop. Either click here ~~> ETSY, or copy/paste the URL.

Cards I Made This Week

Hey Crafters...

So, I finally stepped outside my "comfort" zone and tried Perfect Pearls. I've been meaning to try this technique, but have been a bit intimidated (like other things). So after winning the Jennifer McGuire giveaway and reviewing a lot of her videos I felt compelled to try it. It was easy to mix, it was easy to play with and I can't wait to get back to making more things with it.
I used other techniques, but using Perfect Pearls is what I'm highlighting in this blog. I also used alcohol inks and other "new" things.

I hope you enjoy and are inspired.

I have exciting news also that I want to share. Starting April I will be building my copic markers collection. As of now I have 5 (which many of you probably know since I keep bragging about my 5, lol), and each week I plan on adding at least 12 markers to my collection for the next three months. By the time I'm done, I will be sick of copics... lol But doing this means I will have to be very tight and restrict myself from going to Michael's or Jo-Ann Fabrics. Those of you know have seen my videos know this is nearly IMPOSSIBLE, but if I want to save money (yes save, because according to my husband I've spent 3x as much as what I will be starting April), and if I want to really get into coloring with copics I have to be strict. If I ever need glue or any materials to make things for Gio's 1st birthday I'll surely be asking hubby to go get it and send him with pretty coupons... lol!!

This week my plan is to get started on Easter, birthday, thanks, wedding and random cards. Also, for every card I do make I will place a 2nd one in my etsy shop. If you are interested in any of the cards I show, some of them might be there, so don't hesitate to check it out.

Thanks for coming by.

New In My Etsy!!

Hi everyone. I've been busy lately organizing my craft room, including all my beading stuff. I recently found out that now I can call myself a "beader". I kinda like that term. hehe... I've also, (naturally), have been shopping for great deals on and off line and taking care of a growing baby. Ever since he turned 5 months, he's just become more aggressive and independent. He wants to get places, but can't crawl yet. lol.

Anyway, I wanted to take a minute to share what I've been working on. As you might know I have opened an Etsy shop and a few times a week I stock my shop with jewelry & craft items. Below are photos of the stuff I did in the past 7 days. If you are interested, I've added the links to each photo for each listing individually. There are more than these in my shop, so if you want to see the entire shop just click HERE. <--

If you are interested in a particular item, but in a different color or size, just message me and I will definitely accommodate you.

Thanks for coming by and checking out my blog.
