Craft Room Updated

The following 5 photos show what my craft room looked like before we moved.

Back in April 2010, when we moved into our 3 story townhouse, I was about 3 months pregnant and only had the help of 2 family members (including my husband) to get everything put away in 2 days. I was kinda rushed to figure a layout for my new craftroom and was never really pleased with the outcome. After all, for Christmas of 2009 my husband gifted me the help to reorganize my old craftroom, which came out perfect (if you ask me). I had been wanting to change things in this room for a while, but never really had the motivation or any ideas of what I wanted. I knew I wanted to change how the IKEA spice racks (which I think are not being sold anymore because I just went to the website and didn't find them), were placed on the wall, and I knew I wanted a new layout with more space, but I didn't know if standing up the expedit IKEA shelf would work on any of the walls. Most of the walls were used up and the others were too small.

(This photo shows the room in the townhouse
during the transformation)

So we put both our brains together and came up with something that I now LOVE and can't wait to just stay there for hours creating. It's not quite finished because I still have to organize my 2x2 clear stamp storage, my ribbon storage and the closet, but from what it was it's come a long way.

Once all the changes are made, I plan on doing yet another room update video tour and post it on youtube. When I do, I'll make sure to include it in a blog for you all to also see.

Thanks for viewing.

My 1st Blog Award!!

YaY!! I've seen many blog awards around town (lol), but never thought I'd get one. [sidebar: does it really make a difference having awards on your blog?]

Anywho, a very sweet lady by the name of Jackie (who, by the way, sounds and speaks EXACTLY like my sister Nancy who lives in Staten Island, NY and who I met on You tube), gave me this blog award and now I get to pay it forward to those of you who I follow and inspire me.

The Libster Blog award is given to bring new blogs to light. It's a great way to share blogs that might not otherwise be seen or ones you want to share with others.

As a recipient you must share the love and pay it forward by:
1. Creating a post where you blog about the Libster award & reveal your 3-5 blog picks.
2. Let them know you chose them.
3. Copy & paste the blog award on your blog.
4. Have faith that your followers will rally & show their crafty love back out to those you awarded.
5. Have fun!

Here are my top 5 picks.

1. Sharon - - She's genuine. Sweet. Funny and very creative. She might not blog as much as she wants to (and maybe this award will get her motivated - lol), but she does have a you tube channel that is full of creative ideas and fun giveaways. Check her out.

2. Scraps, Love, Dear, Hun - - This chick is like wonder woman! She has a lot of kids (that I can't even count - lol) and always gets tons of crafting done. I don't know how she does it, but if you're a lazy crafter who is planning a party, you might want to check out her etsy store too... she'll do the work that you don't feel like doing. LOL

3. Lisa G. - - Her copic coloring is to die for!!! Her cards are adorable and I can't wait to see what else she comes up with!!

4. Stacy (The Scrapbooking Cottage) - - Not only does she make great cards, but she sells stamps and lots of craft items for great prices!! Thanks for providing great products and quick service.

5. Amy - - Because she always make gorgeous cards, so bright and advanced. I love her work and she inspires me. So thank you.

My Etsy Shop

Good evening bloggers, I wanted to stop by quickly and announce the opening of my Etsy shop. I'm very excited and proud to start this cute little at-home "business" (if you will) so I hope you can all take a moment when you have free time to see what's in store right now.

So far I only have 12 pieces of jewelry, but if all goes well, I would like to add at least 4-6 pieces daily. Not to mention, I'd also like to start making cards again and stock my shop with those as well.

In any case, the link to my shop will be below and also on the sidebar to the right.

I hope you have a wonderful and blessed weekend.

5 More Earrings

... and I promise these are the last ones!! I really wanted to go to Walmart and get more things, but I rather go in the morning. These last 5 pairs of earrings are unfinished, but I still wanted to share a photo of them. I'm really getting the hang of this. If you are interested in any of them, be sure to check back here for an update on my Etsy shop. Thanks!!

Purple Bracelet.

Yeah, I'm back. I made one more bracelet. This time it's only 8". It just might fit a normal person!! LOL

I hope to make it to Walmart tonight to buy a few supplies. I should spend less than $20, but I won't bet anything on it.

Thanks for stopping by.

I Can't Stop!!

Here's another pair. I ran out of earlobe hooks and yet I keep making them. LOL. I'm seriously considering staying up all night to do my thang!! When inspiration hits, you gotta take advantage. I just might get dressed (I've been in PJs all day), and hit up Walmart when my hubby comes from work. I need more supplies because the ebay sellers from China, Hong Kong & Beijing take forever to ship your stuff. Although the prices are awesome, I wish it took only 7 days.

A friend on facebook saw the 1st pair of earrings and charms I did and asked if I was able to make a bracelet. I didn't think I could, but I said I would try. After 20 minutes I came up with this model. It's an original and only fits my chubby wrist (because I had to be my own model - lol), but it can be modified for a smaller wrist.

Like I said before, I'm loving this new hobby!!! I can't wait to make more stuff and sell them.

In Love With ...

... Making Earrings!!!

I can't get enough of it!!! I ran out of earring hooks, so if I do make more, I won't be able to photograph it because they will obviously be unfinished... but gosh do I love it. I did 3 more pairs in less than 1 hour. I am ADDICTED!!! I will surely be opening a shop by the end of the day on etsy and adding them. I'm really proud of my new found hobby and hopefully I can get more beads and supplies this weekend to make more.

I placed the photos in the order they were created. Enjoy!

My 1st Pair of Earrings!!

So, ever since I started making a mini album of my baby shower, I have found so many new things!! Altering projects, bigger flowers, charms, etc. Well because I wanted to learn how to make a charm for my mini I decided that I would search youtube. Through that I also found there was a huge community of people making jewelry also... (similar to charms)... I decided that I would buy all the ingredients (including all the tools, beads, storage, crystals, etc) and try this new craft out.

I started by making a few stick pins & a bookmark, which you can see in the photo below.
Then I tried making a charm and came up with one that I made for my friend Sharon (SMScrapper on YT)...

And my very latest craft project are these earrings that I made in the photo below... I used 4mm pink swarovski crystal beads, tibetan earring holders and white glass pearl beads.

To be honest the way these earrings hang is kinda weird. Maybe I used too many techniques? But in any case, they are not for sale and were just made as a tester, to get the hang of using the tools, making loops and knowing what items to use. I will try to make more this week and finally set up my Etsy seller's account (add bank acct., etc). When/If I do, I will surely create a blog to share my Etsy shop.

Thanks for stopping by.

Be Blessed.

My 1st Five Copics

So, as you might know I have been really wanting copic markers. I think they seem so fun to use and look great being used with cute stamps. I knew I was going to get them, but thought I had to wait a few months before my income tax check came in to get at least 50-75 markers.

Well, one day as I shopped at a local scrapbook store I was tempted to get the one that's always sold out on I paid $5.95 for E000 and had no regrets in doing so. (The website sells them for $4.13 with free shipping after $50).

Anyway, as my husband and I celebrated Valentine's Day this past Saturday (2/12) he mentioned that he wanted to get me 2 or 3 copic markers to get me started on being able to color in at least a face on the stamped image... Sunday after church we headed straight to my LSS and I picked out anything I wanted. I got 4 copics and a stippling brush because I recently saw a very cute technique by Sharon "SMSCRAPPER" on youtube and wanted to try it out also.

I didn't go crazy, just got those 5 things. I can't wait to get my check to really go crazy. I have to get the markers and also the white storage cubes that were created for them. Once that's all purchased and my room is organized (closet, curtains, etc.), I will surely record an updated scrapbook room video. Since I moved to a 3 story townhouse in April, planned a shower for September, had a baby in October, decorated the house for Christmas and finally got Giovanni on a feeding & sleeping schedule, I have not had time to really organize my room the way it should be and to record a video. Hopefully by the early spring I can get all this done.

Above is the photo of my first 5 copic markers taken from the 2nd window of my scraproom to get a clear photo. I'm so proud of my humble bunch! LOL

E000, E00, E02, E21 & R20. I wanted E11, but it was SOLD OUT!!!

Happy Valentine's Day!!

"Be Mine" Valentine's Card

This 24 piece pack of heart shaped cards was purchased at Michael's about 3 weeks ago. I thought I would use at least one this Valentine's Day and leave the rest for next year (only because I have been very busy with my, now, 4 month old son). I paid $1.99 and thought it was a great deal being that it also came with the envelopes.

Below is the step by step process I took to make this card.

The paper I used was from Luxe. I used Mod Podge (because I'm finding it's faster than glue or tape runners), and let it try before I cut around the shape of the card.

Using Ranger Ink, I distressed the edges slightly with a dauber.

I covered the bottom half of the card (to cut the monotony of those dots and bring depth to the layout) with craft cardstock. I found this swirl felt self-adhesive trim in my ribbon drawer that I had for more than a e year and it seemed to be the perfect fit for the "look" I wanted to create. The swirl trim was too white, so I distressed it a bit with the leftover ink that was on the dauber. The pink/rose trim (that I used on the Altered Heart Wooden Frame) was placed over the swirl trim using glue dots. (I didn't have time to let the glue gun heat up).

I added bling in just the perfect area above the trimmings.

I went through my "LOVE" drawer and found some cardstock phrases by Daisy D. and instead of stamping a sentiment, I matted the piece with craft cardstock, distressed the edges and added Glossy Accents on the "BE MINE" to make it pop and shine.

I embellished with Recollections Flowers, punched a heart out of the same craft cardstock, inked the edges and added bling, and used brads and buttons to enhance the flowers.

I hope you were inspired and if you have any questions, please ask.

Thank you.

Altered Heart Wood Frame

I'm so excited to share my first altered project. I've seen many of these on Youtube and didn't think I'd have it in me to pull it off. I thought I had to have so much equipment & embellishments to be able to complete something beautiful, but I was wrong!! A few things around the house and craft room and you have a gorgeous frame. I will take you step by step of the process.

(click on photos to view larger)

First I took a plain $1 frame from Michael's and used Mod Podge to glue this wood looking paper from DCWV The "Green Stack". With an X-acto knife I cut out the edges and inside, distressed the edges with Ranger Ink "Old Paper" and Stampin' Up "Melon Mambo". I painted the sided with brown acrylic paint and let dry.

I took a wooden smaller heart (that can be found at Michael's in sets of 3 for $1) , painted the front and inside with Making Memories "Lipstick", then the side edges with brown paint. I cut out another smaller heart using Heidi Grace paper and placed inside the small wooden heart.

I added rhinestones around the small wooden heart after I tried making polka dot brown painted dots and failed. The rhinestones are a lot prettier and work better with the complete frame. (you'll see below)

This pink trim was purchased at a local scrapbook store here in Florida, (which I SOOO need to go back and get more!!)

I used a variety of embellishments, including Recollections butterfly and flowers. (I also need to go back for more of those, LOVE them!!)

I was so excited about the finished product that I gave it to my husband 2 weeks before Valentine's Day. I couldn't wait! LOL - And BTW, he loved it!!

Thanks for watching.
