Mickey Mouse Birthday Banner

Hey Party People!!

By the time you see this blog, the cake would have already been eaten, the presents opened, the decorations put away and the toys semi-broken (Gio could get rough sometimes!).. lol.

Now that I have time (Wednesday 2pm), I wanted to blog about the banner I made that felt like it took FOREVER!!

Before I continue, I want to admit that I have had my Cricut Expression for a couple of years now and because I never REALLY understood how to work it, I never REALLY used it til now for this party.  So, with that being said, I will also have to admit that making this banner took all the non-blonde in me to make.  I really struggled looking for the "blackout" "banner" and "border" buttons on the keypad.  lol.  While I showed this banner in a video I also noticed that the banner I cut had holes at the top of it, but there was another banner (solid) available to cut.  I didn't realize this at the time, so I had to come up with a way to cover those holes, which prompted me to make scalloped trims at the top.  It came out looking cute and different, but don't look behind the banner.. you'll see HOLES!!  lol.
Anyway, the photos (as always) tell the story.  If you have any questions just leave me a comment or email me at AtStudioD@ymail.com.  I hope this has been helpful and remember to read your manual, (something I never do!).. lol.

The cartridges I used were: Mickey Font and Celebrations.

As you can see, I ran into some problems early on, but that didn't stop me from trying.

Used a white gel pen to mark where I wanted to punch the holes for the eyelets.

Making this banner and the invites was challenging, but it did make me appreciate my cricut more and also help me to better understand the functions.  Now I have a "cartridge wish list" going on and hope to be able to get those one day.

Thanks again for taking out time to check my blog.
Be sure to check back soon for party pictures.

Be Blessed!!

Hi Damaris, I know what you mean about the Cricut. It took me a bit too, but now I LOVE it. Your banner is so beautiful. Hope the cake was good.
