3 Years Old.

Since the day I found out I was pregnant, I worried about losing my baby; and it didn't end after I gave birth.
I've heard and read so many stories of "crib death", and crazy accidents by the pool or even in the bathtub.  Which made me extremely careful in everything I did with Giovanni.  I barely slept the first 6 months of his life, for fear that something wild would happen as I rested.

He'll be 3 years old tomorrow and I have planned a fun day of everything he loves.  Mickey shaped pancakes.  Swimming (crossing my fingers that the weather will be nice).  Chuck-E Cheese.  And a small cake.

Saturday is his "official" mini party and he chose the Mickey theme himself.  I wanted something different like Sponge Bob or Sesame Street, something we've never done before.  And even though there are only 7 people attending, I still wanted to make it special.

His only request for his birthday was cake and balloons.  He REALLY stressed "CAKE".  Easy, but this crafty momma just HAD to make something fun & cute.  I made adorable Mickey food picks / food flags and will be making other things for his special day.  (You'll see in a future blog post).

At age 3 he knows the complete alphabet and the sound each letter makes.  He figures out the first letter of every word by sounding it out.  He spells his name and even some 3-4 letter words.  He loves solving puzzles & problems and helps me SMASH once in a while.  He loves when I read to him and pretends he reads along.  His favorite toys always involve either wood blocks or letters and numbers.  He counts to 20 and can understand how many of something there are.  He's not afraid to swim in 6ft of water, but doesn't realize that his float vest is what's keeping him from drowning.  (let's not tell him - lol).  He has finally mastered his colors and always brings me my chapstick and phone, because he knows they are always stored in my bra.  lol.  Our mommy & son baths don't happen often, so when they do he takes advantage and doesn't want to get out.  His charisma, humor and knowledge of things far surprasses anything I expected in a 3 year old boy, and I have no idea how he became so smart and grown.

I haven't stopped worrying that something might happen to him one day, but I have faith that God gave me this gift for a reason.  I have made it a point to make sure he learns as much as he can.  I know every mom says their child is smart and cute, but this boy... there's something different and special about him.

He knows that I have a weakness for watching him sleep at night, which is why he gets away with dragging his Brobee pillow and baby blanket to our bed every night.  And even though he kicks my husband's spine, and slaps me in the head while he sleeps; I'll always welcome him back.

'Tis The Season For NEON!

I have been in love with NEON everything all year, and it's no wonder I really enjoyed making the cards I'm about to share with you today.

I used Hero Arts neon inks, some random stamps and went to work on some really CAS cards, that were super fun to make and will put a smile on anyone's face.

Thanks in advance for the sweet comments.

Warm Mittens.

I was feeling a bit "blah" one day two weeks ago.  No real inspiration or desire to make anything "extravagant".  So I decided to play with some supplies.  I used this adorable stamp set by Scrap Happy Ohio called "Scrap Happy Mitten Set", and 3 of their pretty inks called "Blue Raspberry, "Gumdrop Green", and "Wild Cherry", which you can find HERE.

I had no real idea of what I wanted to create, but these CAS cards were the best remedy for the "blahs".

I even used some of my Hero Arts neon inks and made the exact same card, but for someone (who grew up in the 80s), who would appreciate a non-traditional Christmas card.

And yes, it's only September, but I'm so ready to get started on Christmas projects.  I always skip the Fall holidays cuz I'm so eager for December to arrive... hehe.  This year I'll take it slow.  This is the only Christmas project you'll see before November...

...Maybe...

Hello. Hi. ♥

It's been a while since I colored a Greeting Farm image, so when I saw they were hosting a challenge, I decided to dust off Miss Anya Bags and add her to a cute fall card.

I colored her hair and skin with copic markers, and paper pieced the rest of the image; however I did color over the paper to add dimension.

I used Lawn Fawn's 6x6 "Into The Woods" paper pad, Recollections enamel dots, a fiskars leaf punch, WOC flowers and faux stitching.  The cute little characters and speech bubbles were from the paper that I cut out and added to the background.

I'm So Random...

...that's why I enjoy Twitter & Instagram.  It gives me an outlet to be silly and weird and totally myself.

The photo in this layout was taken last week after I blew out my hair.  If you know me, you know that I have trichophobia.  (<--- click, it's a real thing).  So, it's very RARE the times I do my hair.

There was a time when I would go to The Hair Cuttery and pay $5 just so they can shampoo the nest on my head.  I lost so much hair after giving birth and just now I'm starting to see it getting fuller again and growing long... greys and all.  (I'll take what I can get, folks!).

In the past year I have learned to wash my own hair, faced-forward, knees down on the ground, into the tub with a pull-out shower head.  (*high-five* to whoever invented that thing!).  I can't say that I enjoy it, but it's better than having it crawl all wet and slimy down my back (and other gross places).

With that being said, I now find myself instagramming random photo-sessions and showing the world (all 780 of them) my quirky side...

Here's my entry for the My Mind's Eye September Sketch Challenge, using the MME Collectable "Unforgettable" collection.

Oh, and, P.S., by morning my hair was a ball of frizz... gotta love that Florida weather!

WISH come true.

I've had this Saturated Canary image "Cerridwen" for more than a year and have only attempted to color her once before.  The result was fatal for me, so I put her away and every so often would look at her, wanting to print her out, but not feeling confident enough.

Over the weekend I attempted to color her again (with copic markers), and was happy with the outcome.  So happy that I quickly grabbed the closest paper pad near me (which happened to be one I JUST picked up at TJ Maxx that day - only $2.99 Woot Woot!), by Crate Paper "DIY Shop".  The perfect vintage rose colors were in the pad, helping me create a pretty and different birthday card for someone special.

I used mesh and cheese cloth for my backdrop, a gorgeous spellbinder die (that kinda looks like a snowflake), and even framed her differently by propping up a pink 1/4" circle border above the image using pop dots.  The flowers are randoms from my stash (mostly WOC and IAR).  I fussy cut the typewriter from the paper collection, added Recollections pearls, Liquid Pearls & butterflies, and distressed all the paper edges with walnut stain.

I am entering this into the Saturated Canary Challenge and hope it passes for "Shabby Chic", hehe.
