25 DOC - Day 18 - A New Year [freebie]

Many of the projects I've shared with you so far can be given as gifts to Anyone, but today's share is my favorite so far.  I originally saw these desktop calendars being made on youtube with many versions of it... some had an ongoing floral theme to them, while others incorporated spaces to add a photo within each month.

When I thought to make this, I knew exactly what die (Stampin' Up Top Note), what collection (Simple Stories "SNAP") and what stickers, dies & punches I'd be using from my stash.  It was a two day project that felt like it only took 2 hours to do.

The only problem I had was trying to get the right size calendar to fit the kraft cardstock that I originally diecut from the "SNAP" 6x6 paper pad I wanted to use.

After I cut them out I realized that the days of the week were not listed and that they all started in the same place.  NO BUENO if you want to actually USE this desktop calendar.  I had such a stressful time with it, that I decided I would make my own calendar from scratch and print it out myself.  It was easier than I thought (I'm no tech wiz like hubby), and I was super proud of myself...

Not only was my calendar (right) a better fit for the diecut, but it made more sense as an ACTUAL calendar.
Sorry Simple Stories, I love this collection, but I'll have to use your calendars in my Smashbooks instead.

Enough small talk.
Let's SEE what I created!!

lol.

I colored the SOG image below with Tim Holtz Distress Markers - not too bad, eh?  lol

Here's how I made the cute SUN on July's page.

The binder clip actually holds the mini file folder closed.  Inside is space for you to quickly jot down what school supplies will be needed or any pre-school appointments you might need to remember.

The pumpkin is a Bugaboo Stamps digital stamp that I colored with copic markers.

Here is how I made the cute little clipboard on the last page above,
using a Dear Lizzy stamp set.
I posted this on Instagram a few weeks ago and was happy
to see Dear Lizzy leaving a comment.  =)

I want you to be able to create a handmade calendar for 2013 also, so I have added  THIS FREE DOWNLOAD FILE for you.  I hope you use it and enjoy making one of these as much as I did.

I had in mind to give this as a gift, but I REALLY LOVE it so much, that I don't know if I will be able to part with it... let's see how the holiday spirit makes me feel in a few days... lol

For a second comment, tell me the top 3 things on your New Year's Resolution list.. I need ideas.  LOL

P.S.  If you do make a calendar using this file, please leave me a third comment showing me what you did.  I'd love to see how you all got creative with it.  Thanks!!

I don't generally do a new years resolution list cos I never stick to it but I have one crafting resolution and that is to use all my stamped/printed out images before stamping out new one's!! I have hundreds of unused images so I'm going to do lots of colouring over the holidays and then they'll be ready to use!! HUgsxx

as for the New Year's resolutions..I tend NOT to make any, because I am not consistent with sticking with goals of any kind. I've fallen off the diet coke wagon WAY too many times, but I do, for health reasons have to lose weight and exercise.
So..#1 resolution will be to get a plan together for better time management.
#2. Make exercise a priority
#3. Meal plan, cook and eat cleaner.
#4 Hope for the best and not quit!

New Years Resolution~
1. Get into better shape~ Don't we always say that...LOL!!
2. Crafty wise~ I would love to get published...maybe this will be the year (it would help if I sent in projects...LOL)
3. Be more organized....I look at my desk and all the pictures and papers and cringe....that should be #1 :)
Thanks for another chance to win and again thanks for the calendar file :)

Fabby Calender my mission is to use up my stash before I buy new stuff and if I don't use in over a year time for it to move on. I have a friends daughter who loves to create cards so I give her my spare stash and watch her burn thru it QUICKLY it's wild to watch a child create :) thanks for the chance
hugs Nikki

New Years resolution list:

1. Clean out drawers and closets. At least one a month. We have lived in our house for 22 years.... It is amazing the spaces you can hide something...LOL

2. Eat better. Notice it is not to loose weight.... which I hope will be the bonus to eating bettter.

3. Relax more. I have been very stressed out about stuff (work and home) and I just need to chill out.

Hope this helps your list.

hmmm. resolutions? i generally don't make them, because i don't want to disappoint myself. i do, however, plan to stick to my diet/workout routine (it's been working great so far!), and i swear that when a concert comes around that i want to attend, i'm jumpin' on tickets and GOING! i don't care if i have to go by myself! and for a third... hmm. well, it's going to be a difficult year, so i resolve to keep my SH!T together and not go postal on anyone. (not mentioning any names - ha!)

My New Year's Resolutions I usually don't do cause it seems after a few weeks I'm done, but there are a few things I want to get done this year:
1) To have a better walk with God and be in the bible everyday
2) Lose weight and get fit
3) to organize my craftroom so it's better to use, than wasting time

omg, this is just so cute. this is something that can be imitated . what a wonderful bunch of ideas you put together. i'm like you. I make things just sometimes hate to part with them. it easy if you know the person appreciates your work. thanks for the calendar download. I love how you showed each month and some tips along the way to. thanks so much for sharing.

top 3 resolutions? i'm lucky if I can figure out even one resolution. not that i'm perfect , so far south of it I think the pole is in sight. I try to make it attainable. always on the list is:

1. lose weight - attainable but so easy to find it again.

2. work on patience - again attainable, could you hurry up already?

3. and share a smile often during the day. very do able but in conflict with resolution 1. remember frowns work more muscles than smiles do

hope you at least get a little chuckle out of my standard resolutions. :)
