Adorable!

Hi bloggers.

It's Tuesday and I have so many things to take care of today, but before I get to my busy day I wanted to share this card that I've been holding on to since last week.

I absolutely love EVERYTHING about this card.  It's pretty.  Girly.  Flirty.  Shabby.  Pink.  Cute.  Fun.  Soft.  Everything, I try to be in real life... lol.  It started out with just a practice run on my shading (clothes in particular).  I cannot wait until I am able to take the Intermediate Copic Certification class to learn more about shading clothes.  I am able to find videos on youtube showing me, but I think I'll learn better hands-on and in a classroom setting.

Anyways, so when I began coloring this Some Odd Girl stamp, I didn't think I'd use her.  But she turned out so pretty!!  I did manage to ruin her left eye (badly) and really wanted to use her, but didn't feel like coloring her in all over again... for a few reasons.  One being that I didn't think I'd be able to color the hat as "good" as I did.... lol.  So in an instant, a light bulb turned on, and I thought I would just re-color her face and eyes over again, cut it out and place it over the image that I had already colored in.  I did this and at first I didn't think it looked right, because the face looked 3D, but it kinda was cool and different.

I'm glad I didn't just give up on her and added her to this card.

Whenever I make a card I never have a layout in mind.  The only 2 things I thought about (this time around) was what pieces I wanted to incorporate (in this case it was a mixture of 2 different Spellbinders dies layered on top of each other), and the other was using the Prima Pixie Glen paper pad.

As I made the card I looked to the left side of my desk; which has a bar hanging off the side that holds little tid-bits, and nick-nacks & small pieces of things that I prepare for a "current project" and end up not using... like diecut pieces, altered flowers, tags, etc.  So when I saw a birdcage (that's been there since way before the holidays), I thought it would go great with this "Shabby Chic" card.  I immediately was flooded with ideas and ways to use the birdcage, but the bottom of the cage (which comes with a stand) was very worn, flimsy and ripped a little.  So I decided I would cut off the stand and make it a hanging birdcage.

Once the card was done I started to wonder where I got the birdcage from.  I didn't have a die that looked like it, so I was really clueless about it.  I began to chat with my scrappy friend Sharon (SMScrapper) and during the conversation I figured out it was from the Cricut Cartridge "Serenade".  I have only 1 birdcage die, and after making this card I knew I wanted to get more, including those that come in cartridges... so this year I'm making it my priority to get more birdcages in my stash because I absolutely LOVE the look of it.  Especially complimented with soft pastel colors.

Thanks for checking in on my little bloggie, and I hope you all have a magical day!

Je t'adore,
Damaris
