30 Days of Christmas - Day 17

Hello Loves.

I'm super duper über excited to show you today's card.

If you remember, yesterday I blogged about how I made a similar card to the one I made yesterday in that I used the same elements.  Except, today's card looks a little more busy and it was definitely a lot longer to make.

I don't own a sewing machine (and although I've thought about getting one for crafting, I simply can't wrap my head around the idea of spending $200 for something I will hardly use - I already did that once with the Cricut Expression), so I had to sew every stitch you see on the card (minus the ribbon) by hand.  I didn't mind, except while I was making this card my husband got home and I had to stop IN MID CARD (ugh, we know how totally wrong this is, don't we ladies?), and go prepare dinner.

You can't tell by the photos, but the snowflakes have been embossed with iridescent powder.  The way I did it was I first inked a white piece of paper with versamark ink, then I covered it with a thin layer of iridescent sparkle embossing powder; heat set it and punched the snowflake out.

TIP: When doing this technique I only suggest heat setting one layer of embossing powder, because you might break your punch; like I did a few months ago with a MS butterfly punch.  Oh how I miss that punch!  lol.

However, I was able to finish it the next day, which probably gave me an advantage being that I was well-rested and ready to craft again.

I love everything about this card, the colors, the layout, the image and it might be up there with my top 5 cards.

What's your favorite 30 Days of Christmas card so far?  Let me know, I'm very curious!!

Talk to you tomorrow!

This one is definitely cute and one on the top o my list. Super cute. To be honest with you I think it is the one with the stockings in the traditional red and green colors.
I have a hello kitty sewing machine, which I purchased from Target for 99 dollars. They had it in pink but when I went to get it they were out. So I have mine in green.
They are fun to use when you know what you are doing. I still don't have the full hang of it. Maybe a sewing class would help. LOL.
TFS.

oh so adorable!! Great job on the hand stitching. once you get a sewing machine you'll do so much more than just crafting with it! You'll want to make your own clothes! fun jackets and create your own style! It's a blast and worth the investment!! Now on to picking my favorite card. . . can't choose just one so here goes days 16, 13,11, and 9 and of course today are all a tie (so far)

Oh don't you just hate it when you are in the middle of a project and you are really into it, and you get interrupted and have to stop and do something else? Ohhh I hate that. There are cheap sewing machines. You don't need a $200 for paper crafting! That would take all the money for buying Copics LOL

Love it!!!!!!
I have a sewing machine that I HAD to have a few years ago because I was determined to learn how to sew and figured I'd use it on my cards too but I didnt enjoy sewing as much as I thought I would and it's too big to just leave out for the occasional card and too much of a pain to dig out and set up for 1 card so I tend to cheat completely and use ink for stitching instead of thread at all. Great job
