Hello Cutie!

Hi Bloggers!

Today I'm sharing another Cardabilities Sketch card.  This time I decided to use no colored images and dig into my UNTOUCHED Heidi Swapp stash.  I've been hoarding it long enough and it's time I cut into that gorgeous paper, right!?

I used a Heidi Swapp 12x12 pad to create the card base and yellow banner.  I also used 2 of the Color Shine sprays on the hearts, then accented that with a button.

It was a quick card to put together.

Don't forget to visit their blog and enter the new sketch challenge.

Day 31.

I know I could've added Day 31 to the previous post on this subject, but it's long and I wanted it to have it's own entry.

Day 31, Friday:  A vivid memory.

The day I gave birth.

I remember being so happy after the drugs.  I had to wait an hour (in pain) for the only anesthesiologist (spellcheck?) on staff to finish with an emergency surgery to come drug me.  lol.

After that I was talking all kinds of nonsense... at one point I tried speaking to my husband and explaining what I was experiencing due to the drugs, but I felt like my words were slurring.  So the only logical one-sentence I could come up with was "I FEEL LIKE HECTOR LAVOE".  (read up on him... very popular Salsa singer and there was even an amazing movie made of him with JLo & Marc Anthony).  I chose him because he was always drugged up and drunk.  That's how I felt.  LOL.  Made my point didn't it?!?!?  lol.

The best part of this memory was after snoozing on cloud 9, I woke up to a strange feeling.  Like I had to potty (to put it nicely).  Which was THE BEST ADVICE that I EVER RECEIVED about giving birth.  When you feel like that, it means the baby is coming and you gotta push.  Well, since there were no docs in my room I knew I had to hold the "feeling" in and not move a muscle.  After the nurse came and saw the baby's head, she started calling for a doc to hurry because I was ready.

My doc was in another building on call for his appointments and was paged.  A new doc entered the room and at that point I could give 2 cents who it was that would deliver this kid.  LOL.  He made a huge entrance with a witty one-liner (which I remember giggling at and thinking 'i like this guy'), then he takes a peek and says, specifically, "DON'T PUSH".  So that's what I did.  I stood there and didn't push.  Even though every instinct in me and muscle in my body begged me to do it.  He kept repeating "Don't Push".  And I patiently waited for him to give me the okay.  My legs were lifted by a nurse and my husband and all of a sudden a baby was thrust onto my chest as the doc said "CONGRATULATIONS, IT'S A GIRL!".

I was so mad.  Everything happened so fast.  My husband and I looked at each other, but he was wisked away in bliss at the thought of cutting the umbilical cord.  I looked at the baby and didn't get the warm fuzzies you're SUPPOSED to get upon seeing the angelic face of your first child.  I just kept looking around the room for answers.  I finally turned to the nurse and asked her if it was a girl.  She eased my anxiety with a smile and said "No, it's a boy".

Either that loony doc was horribly mistaken, or he tried to pull a fast one on me.

Needless to say I didn't enjoy the first few moments of Gio's birth.  I think it has scarred me.  The guilt of not loving this baby unconditionally.  I had prepared for months and made everything perfect for a boy in the nursery and the shock of it being a girl really hurt me deeply.

I'll never forget how relieved I was.  But I will also never forget the regret.

Thanks Jenni.  I really enjoyed this series of questions... I learned a lot about myself and I'm sure my readers did also.

Bye Bye.

Google Reader will be shutting down on Monday.  Which means, the "normal" way you see my blog won't be available anymore.

I honestly don't know why, but I don't want to lose touch with any of my readers and friends... so I found a really quick & easy tutorial to transfer over ALL your fav blogs to Bloglovin.  If you haven't already signed up, do it.  It's quick and easy.  AND it's kinda better (in my honest opinion).

So.  Here's 2 easy clicks to get them all in one spot (AFTER you signed up to Bloglovin).

How to Import Your RSS subscriptions  from Google Reader to Bloglovin’

First, click here:
It will bring you to this page:Screen shot 2013-03-14 at 6.40.13 PM
Click that blue button that says “Import from Google Reader”.
You’ll have to re-categorize your blogs to how you like them, it just imports all the feeds… a feature that Bloglovin provides.
Or if you are already there and just want to follow me, you can click the button below.
The button will always be at the end of this blog and on my sidebar.

... i have a few of them, but there's only a handful that I'm really tight with.

I am lucky though, to have them in my life and keep in touch with him often.  They are the sweetest girls.  So funny and cool and understand my humor.  And I made this card thinking of them.  It sucks that I can't give them all this one card, so I'll have to flip a few coins.  LOL.

The June SOG sketch challenge was really simple and cute, and I thought I'd make it a little different with my overly sized banner at the bottom.  LOL.  I used Vintage Bliss 6x6 paper by Simple Stories, some enamel dots & liquid pearls, and one of my favorite SOG images.

This time I tried to add some pleats.  Coloring clothing with copics has been my biggest challenge.  I struggle, but I practice daily to get better.

I hope you guys check out the July challenge coming out next week and join.  They're so fun!

Thinking Of You.

I have been too lazy to even admit that I have been suffering from the loss of a little mojo.

I have been inspired to do pretty cards and pretty layouts, but I just have not made the time and I have not FELT like doing it.  If that makes any sense.  I have not been wanting to be in my craftroom for a couple of weeks.  Maybe because it's full out summer here in FL and it's been raining for weeks.  I forgot what the sun looked like.

In any case, it's been FOREVER since I created a project for Scrap Happy Ohio, and I decided over the weekend, that I would start on something.  I colored in Valentine Girl With Balloons, used Glitz "Cashmere Dame" paper, Pink Paislee Vintage Vogue ephemera and pulled everything together with a Some Odd Girl sentiment.

I hope you check out their shop.  They have a lot more cute image stamps for sale.

Blog Everyday in May [26 - 30]

Day 26, Sunday: Something you read online.  Leave a link and discuss, if you'd like.  Um.  5/26 was a whilez ago so I kinda don't remember, but I will say that I was probably not online that day and if I was it was probably only Instagram.

Day 27, Monday: A letter to your readers.

Dear Readers: I whole-heartedly appreciate you visiting my blog and especially when you leave me feedback.  My true joy comes from the ability to share my creativity with you.  It's amazing how from the comfort of my desk I can reach so many people across the globe.  I can inspire you to dust off your scrapbooks and start making things.  I so love that feeling.  I'm here to encourage and inspire you.  And I hope I have been fulfilling that duty.

Thank you so much for taking the time to follow my blog and also leaving comments.  I always read them, even though I might not "have" or "make" time to reply to all of them.

You are the sweetest people I've ever come across and I am flattered by your graciousness.

Day 28, Tuesday: Only pictures.

I just found out about Basmati rice this week and have had it 4 out of 5 days.  YUM!!
Also, this salad is yummy, try to find it in your local store.

Here's what it looks like all served up.

Day 29, Wednesday: Five songs or pieces of music that speak to you or bring back memories. Use Grooveshark or YouTube to include them in the post.

Lately, really, all I kinda like is pop music, but here's 5 songs.

#1 - Gotye.  Reminds me of Summer 2012.  The Smashbook Group and starting Instagram.  I would hear it all the time on the radio as I smashed and shared photos of my pages.  So Fun!

#2 - Christina Perri.  Just one of my newest favorite songs lately.  So touching and so sweet.  Reminds me of Edward & Bella.  Was that in the movie?  I'm not a Twihard fan, so I don't know.  lol.

#3 - Christina Perri.  Up until I started to select my songs, I didn't know that these 2 songs were from the same girl.  I've lost my sense of knowing who artists are, unless it's Usher or Winsen Y Yandel with a hot dance beat.  lol.  This song reminds me of "So You Think You Can Dance".  I didn't watch last season, and I don't know if I will this season.  But the 2 seasons before last were amazing!!  I love the lyrics.  The melody and how catchy it is.

#4 - Prince Royce was never someone I paid attention to until I started to watch a show at my parent's house Sunday evenings.  "La Voz".  Same as "The Voice".  He's one of the judges and seems like such a sweetie.  I got curious and started to research his music.  The lyrics are heart-wrenching and so sweet.

5.  Prince Royce again.  Love this song!

Day 30, Thursday: React to this term: Letting Go. Letting Go has helped me overcome my fears, my disappointments, my heartaches, my past, my everything negative about life.  It truly frees you from the slavery of having to dwell on things.

Check back next week for #31.

Cool News!

I'm super excited about a DT that I'm a part of.  They create card sketches and host challenges.  I will be joining Cardabilities twice a month for the next 3 months, and helping spread the word about their awesome sketches.

For Sketch #77 I used My Mind's Eye "Sky's The Limit" - Find Your Wings and Fly 6x6 paper pad, some Recollections bling and flowers, 2 MFT dies and distress ink.  The image is called "Wee Suzi" by Wee Stamps and I colored her in with copic markers.

Don't forget to visit their blog and enter the sketch challenge.

Copic Beach Scene

You guys.  I am in awe of the news I received this morning.

One of my good friends CAZ, left me a wonderful comment on facebook stating that I had made it to the TOP 5 contestants on ODD IDOL.  Isn't that AMAZING!??? I can't express how excited and nervous I am now.  A huge thanks to all those that have been figuring out my projects.  YOU ROCK!!

So here's the project I made that helped me get into the top 5.

Round 4 asked us to "Make A Scene".  We had to do a ground and ceiling or sky, use at least 2 SOG characters and another 2 elements added to the scene, but everything had to be colored in.  The concept for my altered canvas, was a polaroid photo taken at the beach of Sunny Mae with her Spring Puppy.  I had never seen a beach scene made by copics without using some sort of background image, so that's what I decided to go with.

I also added real seashells from last summer's trip to Jupiter Beach that my parents had in a few jars in their home.  I ransacked it!  haha  The paper collection I used is Simple Stories "Vintage Bliss" and the butterflies were fussy cut from that paper as well.

I hope to one day have time to create a video tutorial on how I made this beach scene, but for now I'm going to focus on brainstorming this next challenge.  It's super difficult!!

Take care and have a blessed weekend.

Days 25 - 30

Day 21, Tuesday: A list of links to your favorite posts in your archives.

This one too.
Definitely This.
and Even this.

Day 22, Wednesday: Rant about something. Get up on your soapbox and tell us how you really feel. (a pet peeve, a current event, a controversial topic, something your husband or roommate or neighbor or boss does that really ticks you off).

1.  horrible drivers... totally gives me road rage.
2.  drivers who pick their noses.  WE SEE YOU!
3.  people who hide behind a screen leaving hateful comments via social media.  GET A LIFE!
4.  waiting 2 hours for an appt. that you scheduled 2 hours earlier for.

(i'll probably add more to this later... stay tuned - lol)

Day 23, Thursday: Things you've learned that school won't teach you.

I learned that prayer is very important, especially if you are a Christian and want to live a Godly life.  It's also important to read the bible and study it.  Really study it.  Know what things mean, not just read it for the story.  Everyone knows about the whale who ate the man, but what's the content behind it?  Do you know?

Day 24, Friday: Your top 3 worst traits.

#1 - I'm lazy.  I rather color than clean.  I rather watch tv than wash my hair.  I rather eat cup-o-noodles than cook.  I rather stay home in pjs than do laundry.  I rather take naps than read.  lol.

#2 - Easily influenced.  When I'm around people who curse too much, I tend to let my tongue slip.

#3 - Stubborn.  I can't be wrong.  I feel like a loser if I'm wrong about something.  And forget apologizing!!!  I don't know how to do it.  I think it's the pride in me that gets in the way.  Something to work on.

Day 25, Saturday: Something someone told you about yourself that you'll never forget (good or bad).

That I'm a "coloring genius".  Ha!  I don't agree, but man that was such a HUGE compliment.  I almost teared up.  lol

Copic Sunset

I'm excited to be guesting for My Sheri Crafts this week.

I was asked to create a card with the theme of "Summer Solstice".  I struggled with this because I wasn't quite sure what it meant.  After much research, I found it was basically the longest day of the year... (where the sun is out the longest).

So I got to coloring "Hula Girl" by Make It Crafty.  Have you seen their images?  They are out of control!!  I have a few and am intimidated to color them.  I'd have to really get more practice in.  It was my first time trying this "sunset" type scene.  It wasn't difficult, maybe one day I'll get the nerve to do a video tutorial.

In any case, for this card I used BoBunny "Country Garden" and also Simple Stories "Vintage Bliss".  The layout is basic, but I did want to make it dimentional and eye catching, so I added tons of flowers and even squeezed in a couple of different butterflies.  The sentiment are chipboard stickers by KI Memories.

Take care.

Everyday in May - Day 16 - 20.

So if you are just hearing about this, Jenni from "Story Of My Life" challenged her readers to blog everyday in May.

I took on the challenge, but have obviously failed.  I wasn't able to blog everyday, but I did take each topic & question seriously enough to want to answer them; even if in groups.

Here are the next 5 days.  Completed and ready for you to read through.

Day 16, Thursday: Something difficult about your "lot in life" and how you're working to overcome it.

First of all, I had to ask Wiki to clarify the meaning of this because I had never heard of it before.

Second, this is a heavy subject.  I have many lots.  But the first one to pop into mind is my weight.  I have struggled with it my entire life.  I had surgery and lost lots of it, but gained it all back after marriage.  Last week I felt the urge to start a new healthy way of eating.  And maybe even dust off our new Just Dance 4 Wii game to shed a few calories.  This week I'm still snacking on Chewy Chips Ahoy and ice cream.  Oy Vey!

Day 17, Friday: A favorite photo of yourself and why.

Because although my hair and makeup isn't glammed up every day (or every week for that matter, lol), you will always find me smiling or laughing.

This photo shows who I really am.  A silly girl who spends lots of time in her craftroom.

Day 18, Saturday: Tell a story from your childhood. Dig deep and try to be descriptive about what you remember and how you felt.

One truly memorable experience I had was when I was in Kindergarden.  I remember the first week of school was very confusing.  I kept being tested on many things.  And at the end of the week my mom was called in to speak to the teacher.  I for sure thought I was in big trouble.  I didn't understand until I got home and went back to school on Monday what was going on.

Basically the teacher had told mom that for what I was going to learn there, I already knew.  Colors, shapes, numbers, my name, my address, etc.  Mom was advised to skip me to first grade so that's where I was Monday.

I felt so intimidated and odd.  I felt scared and like I wouldn't be able to do well.  But I did.

And I was in college just having turned 17 years old.

Cool beans!

Day 19, Sunday: Five of your favorite blogs and what you love about them.

You can read about that here.

Day 20, Monday: Get real. Share something you're struggling with right now.

Right now I am struggling with Giovanni's screaming.  Out of the blue he screams a high pitch yelp and shocks my nervous system.  I HATE IT!  It makes me VERY ANGRY and tests my patience.

Let's just say he's had LOTS of time-outs in the last 6 months.

The next 5 days will be posted next week... stay tuned.

Til then, have a great weekend and don't forget to check out and vote for your favorite project in Round 4 of Odd Idol.  Mine is up there, along with the projects of 9 other very talented ladies.  I hope you make time to vote for your favorite.  I'd tell you which is mine, but that would totally be cheating and I can be disqualified.  But you know me, ya'll can probably figure it out.  hehe.
