Joie De Vivre

Hello Bloggers.

It's Wednesday, February 29, 2012.  A very special day for those Leap Year Babies.  And how could I not blog on the one extra day that only comes 4 times a year??  lol.

I have a special project to share that I created using an 8x8 Canvas, Tim Holtz, KaiserCraft, Wild Orchid Crafts and different techniques.  I'm not one to do tutorial videos, because it kind of takes me hours to figure out what I'm going to do and with a toddler it's kinda tough making something in one hour's time.  Plus, I don't quite have access to a computer that will allow me to edit videos.  So until I can work on that, I can only bring you photos of the play-by-play.  I made this for a youtube friend that I was going to meet for the first time last weekend.  We found out we would be taking the same Copic Certification class and decided to have dinner and lunch and spend some time together.  A while ago she sent me a bunch of goodies from her online stores http://www.2CreativeChics.com and I thought it would be nice to do something in return.  I wanted to respect her and her husband's privacy (which is why their faces are covered).  I would take you through every step of how I made this layout, but as a crafter I'm sure you can get the hang of what I'm doing just by the photos.

I hope you enjoy this layout and if you have any questions please leave me a comment with a way to get in touch with you.

Thank you for taking the time to visit my blog and leaving a comment.  If you'd like to know more details about this canvas layout, just click on the video below.

Have a great day and talk to you soon!!

Do What You Love...

...And I sure do love to color and make cards, don't I?  hehe.

Hi everyone, I'm so happy to be back with the last Karber Digital Design Team post of the month.  I had a little trouble finding some 6x6 purple paper in my stash, so I had to break out the 12x12 sheets and find something that would match how I colored in "Cupcake Leslie".  Isn't she so cute & giddy with her tasty treat?  Love her!!

The plan was to use her for an "anything" card, but when I came across this $1 Studio G clear stamp, I knew I would use it for her card.  It was the perfect sentiment (I thought), and it also fit well with a birthday theme'd card which is why I added the cuttlebug embossed "happy birthday" piece behind her.

The paper I used is from Basic Grey and just by adding some Recollections flowers & bling, piecing holes around the frame, glossy accents on her glasses, and adding photo corners, I was able to put together a quick card.  I would say it took about 30 minutes from start to finish (not including the coloring, of course).  =)

I think after this card, I will be on the look-out for 6x6 paper pads involving all shades off purple.  How can I call myself a crafter and not own any?!!?!

Anyway, enjoy your Monday, and I will speak to you again soon. Thanks for taking the time to visit my blog and I hope you leave a comment below.

Be Blessed.

Perfect LiL Angels

Hey Ya'll!!

I'm so excited to share my 2nd layout this week.  It's something I had in mind to create back in December, but never got around to it until now.  I had an idea of what I wanted to do and tried to make it happen with paper, felt, mesh bling, punches, flowers, stickers, feathers and resin pieces.

(click photos to enlarge)

The photo was taken on 12/3 (which was the day of our church's Christmas concert), in which my baby boy Giovanni and his God sister Sophia (I say God sister because they both have the same God parents), were asked to be Angels in the church play.  Their job was to wear all white and sit on the stage in a scene that would appear to be heaven.  As they sat on stage they played & rolled around on the floor and I thought it was so adorable so I started to take random photos.  I have a few more, but these 2 were the cutest.

Using the Lost & Found Portobello Road collection by My Mind's Eye, I tried to create a page that looks like what heaven would look like with tiny baby angels.  I wanted it to look soft, fluffy and airy, yet beautiful and sparkly.

The resin window with the bird behind it translates from that Malachi 3:10 bible verse which talks about God opening the windows of heaven and pouring out blessings.  And the blessing in this layout being the 2 beautiful angel babies... hehe.

I made a video showing more details on this layout, so if you're interested in watching that I have added the link below.

Antique Paperie Layout

Hi Bloggers,

Ever since I saw the new Colorbok collections at Jo-Ann I knew I wanted to buy at least one complete collection and get started on it.  I invested [good money] in the Antique Paperie line (minus a couple of things here and there, which I can always go back and get), and knew I'd be using it for layouts.  I absolutely love this paper, the colors, the patterns and everything!!  Especially the birdcages and Parisian feel to it.

So, today I decided I would share a layout I made.  It's the first layout in over a year and I was very very hesitant and intimidated about doing it.  Why?  Because after seeing so many gorgeous layouts in Pinterest, I kinda got cold feet... lol.  You crafters out there are ROCKING the layouts!!!

Anyway, so here's my humble layout.  Be nice.  It's been a while since I do one and I wanted to get my feet wet with this brand new line.  If you are curious to know what the collection brings, you can check out the video I uploaded to youtube below, but I will warn you, it's 20 minutes long!!  LOL

Thanks for taking the time to visit my blog and I hope to share some more layouts with you.  I am loving it!!!

It's Your Birthday!

Hi my loves.

Today's card was very easy to make.

I used an MFT Weekly Wednesday Sketch and just build on that.

The paper I used was MME Miss Caroline "Howdy Doody", which reminds me of a spring day in Georgia.  Miss Anya "Hats" was colored in with copics and her hat was paper pieced with the paper.  I added an MFT flourish diecut, some Martha Stewart butterfly punches and Queen & Co pearls.

The sentiment is punched out with an EK Success "Estate" punch and everything was distressed with "Old Paper".

Thanks for checking in and stay tuned for more projects.

Thinking Of You

Hello my loves.

I'm happy to share with you another Karber Digital DT card that I made.  I was very afraid to try coloring in Reader Denny because she's such a diva.  She looks so educated and confident.  I was actually intimidated by the stamp!  LOL.  But I wanted to challenge myself to do something different and I am so very happy with the results.

I imagine that Denny is walking the streets of Paris in her new designer blazer that she purchased at a quaint boutique there, with her new red leather boots and scarf.  She's there on business, and as she walks to the nearest cafe for a mid-afternoon snack in between meetings, she's looking through her schedule book and thinking about a loved one back home in the states.  How romantic!!  LOL.

Using the DCWV "Mariposa" paper pad I was able to incorporate rich tones throughout this card.  Deep and subtle reds, browns and black and some off white too. I used 2 different MFT Stamps die-namics; rolled roses, scallop border along with their white felt, the new birdcage die by Memory Box, Spellbinders Wonky Labels, Wild Orchid Crafts flowers, some Recollections bling and Martha Stewart & Stampin' Up punches.

I really love this card and I'm glad I was able to challenge myself to do something I don't normally do.

I hope you all get the opportunity to visit their website and browse around, and don't forget to check out more of "Denny" digital stamps.

Thanks for checking in.

10 Things I Love...

...About You!

Hi bloggers.  I know Valentine's Day is over, but I wanted to share with you the mini album and altered project that I made for my husband this year.  I procrastinated (as we Aquarian crafters do), and so I was working on it up until 6pm on Valentine's Day.  Phew!!  Just made it!!

The problem I came across was finding a nice box to store the mini in, something that I can present to him.  It took me just about 2 hours to figure out what to do (as I worked on the charm for the mini), but I managed to turn on a light bulb and do something I hadn't planned on.  =)

The box used to be filled with Ghirardelli chocolates!!

The video below will explain more in detail what I used for create this mini album (if you are interested or curious), but basically it was an array of products by MME, MFT & WOC.  I really enjoyed making this mini in a matter of 2 stressful days and next time I'll make sure to give myself at least 2 weeks... but then again, I really work well under pressure.

Thanks for checking in.
