Altered Mirror

Hi darlings, I wanted to share a project that I was able to alter in a matter of hours.  (Usually it takes me days!!)

Recently God has been placing people in my heart to bless them in some way.  Since I'm not at liberty (yet) to bless anyone financially, I figured I'd give them something that I made, something with a hearty message and something they will appreciate.  A $20 gift card to get ice cream will be long forgotten once winter hits, but this gift will be looked daily and be appreciated til it's trashed; which I surely hope it doesn't get to that point... lol.

Anyway, I took a Dollar Tree mirror and sprinkled some fairy dust over it (got a secret stash in my closet - hehe) and voila!!  What you get is a sweet project.

The details to how I made this is in the video below.

I hope this has inspired you to create something elegant, beautiful & touching that will mean something to someone.

Have a blessed day and remember... Hebrews 13:16 (my new favorite verse) - "And do not forget to do good and to share with others, for with such sacrifices God is pleased."

And The Winner Is...

A couple of posts ago I shared 2 cards with you that I made using copic markers and decided to give the 2nd card away.  The winner was going to also receive a 2nd card (color & theme of their choosing), plus a few extra goodies (that I kept a secret - hehe).  Only 2 people entered, so that's exactly what I entered into the system, (random.org).

The winner is "Kristy".  She left a comment through her husband's blog (I suppose) and I wanted to take this time to congratulate her.  Kristy (Michael - lol), if you are reading this, please let me know what 2nd card (color combo & theme) you'd like me to make and I'll get started on that A.S.A.P.  Thanks for taking the time to enter and I'll be doing another (bigger) giveaway once I reach 100 followers.

Have a blessed Monday.

1 Sketch 2 Cards

Last week I entered my card into the My Favorite Things Sketch Challenge, but the process was so extensive & confusing that I forgot how to go about it.  This week I decided I would still give the challenges a try, but won't bother entering; especially because you need to use their stamps, dies and/or paper to be eligible.  Although I have a couple of their dies, I don't think that's enough to enter.

In any case, this Wednesday's sketch "looked" easy, but it just about took me 2 hours to complete.  The good news is that I was able to make 2 cards.  They're not alike, but I think they're both presentable enough to be able to give to someone (lol).

I hope you enjoy seeing the following photos and are inspired.
Thanks for stopping by and thanks in advance for leaving comments.

P.S.  There are still 5 hours left to enter last week's card giveaway.  Click HERE for details.

Cards Giveaway

Happy Friday Lovers!!

So, since it seems I've been blogging for 2 straight days, I figured I'd keep the momentum going and share a few cards I made earlier in the week.  But before I do, I would like to say that I am not a professional!!

I've just learned that there are bloggers/crafters who actually (get this) have crafting online resumes!!  WTH??  When did that happen??  And where have I been for the past 5 years??  I am in awe of how deep this area of work goes.  I started with just a small cart, paper, glue, stickers and scissors and now I find myself trying to make money just so I could catch up to everything that I've been coming across that I've missed out on.  Including copics & images!!  I know I'll never be able to catch up to all the neck-deep pros, but I'm thankful that I have a set of basic skills and time that allows me to play with all my yummy goodies!!

With that being said, I will share my very humble cards (one of which my husband didn't like too much, and I agreed - lol) and hopefully they will bring a smile/smirk to your face.  (I'll take it for the right or wrong reasons... lol).

Every week (and it seems everyday) I receive emails/newsletters from a company called MFT Stamps.  They have a huge array of products, very few of which I own.  I have not had the pleasure of investing in their stamps yet, but do hope to do so in the future.  (aka, by the end of the year).  In any case, the card challenge that was presented seemed odd, yet interested to me.  I decided I would take on the challenge and try my best to create a card that seems right.  I was happy with the result.  I would have entered it into the challenge, but I'm afraid I didn't use any of their products.  lol.

I started by coloring one of the trio Anya girls that come in the "Rain Snow Shine" Greeting Farm stamp set.  When I purchased this set I didn't think I'd ever use that particular stamp "Shine", but ironically it's the first one of the pack that I actually dared to color.  I say dare because if you see the amount of gorgeously (yeah, that's a word!) colored cards that I've seen, you'd be intimidated too!!

I used paper from SEI's "Spring All Over" pad, a few different punches and Recollections embellishments.  I hope you like the end result.

When I begin making cards I don't first pick the colors / pattern paper and then match the stamp to the scheme, what I do is first color the image and then find paper to match the stamp.  Seems easy, but it's terribly difficult.  And maybe the way I do it makes it harder?, but in my brain it's easier.  I have a limited supply of copic markers and to be at a level where I can pick paper and then match the colors would mean I'd have to shed a few hundreds of dollars and have a nice huge collection.  But since that's not the case (YET), I opt for finding my way around little dilemmas.  I started with an ice cream cone sheet of paper by Echo Park's Summer Days and it did NOT look right behind the image.  So I had to redo the entire card completely (which is why it seems so thick) then try to correct all the design flaws.  LOL.  I guess the fact that we saw the card when it was "ugly" has jaded our acceptance of it's new beauty.  Maybe you'll enjoy it and if you do leave a comment and tell me why.  In seven days, I will choose 1 comment (via Random.org) and the winner will get the card (blank inside) with my signature on the back to use however they please.  =)  You can think of it as a "freebie" and I'll think of it as "getting rid of the ugly one".  LOL.

If you are not a follower, please become one.  Along with your comment entry, please add your email address so that I can contact you if you are the winner.

Well, without further delay, here she is.  Her name is Sweet Kiki La Rue, by C. C. Designs and she will be yours soon.

I hope you've enjoyed your time spent reading this very lengthy blog, and have smiled, giggled or at least grinned.

P.S.  Only those who followed the rules (see above) will be in the running.

P.S.S.  The winner will also receive another card with the theme and color combo of their choosing; just give me at least one week to work on it.

Thanks for stopping by and have a blessed weekend.

Next In Line

Hi Loves.  I haven't even begun to go through all the paper collections I purchased this (or even in the last 3 years, for that matter), and I'm already looking at what's to come.  A true shopaholic's nature, I suppose.

I don't know if you have seen this collection yet, but I wanted to share with you one of the collections that I plan on purchasing this year.

I have recently learned that I love Bo Bunny.  I've always liked their paper and products, but being that I have 2 entire collections under my belt and want 3 more, I think I've become a true fan.  Usually I purchase 1 or 2 sheets of paper and MAYBE some stickers, but man have I been drooling over their new lines.  "Et Cetera" will come home with me one day (as soon as I can get my sticky hands on it - not meaning to say that I'm stealing it, but meaning to say that they're full of glue... lol).  Anyway, if you have not already seen the collection just take a look below.

Aren't you just in love with it?  I can't wait til it comes out.  I'm already thinking of ways to use it.  I've been looking at a list of SUMMER CHA items and there are so many collections that I'd like to purchase.  This (Et Cetera) being in my top 5.

Here's what's on my Wish List - in no order.

1. Bo Bunny - Blitzen.
2. Bo Bunny - Sweet Tooth.
3. Bo Bunny - Welcome Home.
4. Echo Park - Victoria Garden.
5. Echo Park - Country Drive.
6. Pink Paislee - Nantucket.
7. Simple Stories - 100 Days of Summer.
8. Simple Stories - Happy Day.
9. Simple Stories - 25 Days of Christmas.
10. Simple Stories - Baby Steps.

And, of course, I cannot forget DCWV - All About Me.

I may not get all those collections, but I certainly to want to get at least 7 of them.  If I do, I'll make sure to share the good news with you all.

Anyway, I just thought I'd share what I've been daydreaming of buying at 3am on a Friday morning, while the rest of the world sleeps and lives a real life... lol.

P.S.  After looking through their website, I think Simple Stories is becoming one of my top 10 paper companies.  LOVE!

What Does Your Desk Look Like?

Ever since the year started I have tried to keep up with my desk.  Leave it messy just 1 overnight as I continue something the next day.  And if I'm still not done the next day, I tend to at least tidy up.

Well my desk has been a mess since before Mother's Day weekend and yesterday I "felt like" reorganizing my eyelets and brads (those that come in the cute little plastic packages at Michael's & Joann's and you don't wanna take out because they're so perfect and neat)... Well, I figured I can save a BUNCH of space in my "embellishment" drawer if I put them all into one container according to size.  I started this plan yesterday and well, let's just say I have a lot of sorting to do still.  I've even given myself extra stuff to do like put away Studio 112 and Inkadinkado stamps, try to color with BIC markers and try to paint using Lindy's Mica powders.  The best part is I hope to do this in one hour or less!!  haha.

Anyway, just thought I'd share my mess before I get back to "work".  Hope you are all having a wonderful Thursday and hopefully the next time I post a blog it will be of the Mother's Day project I made for mom.

Be Blessed.

Parisian Chocolate Box & Card

Hi Loves.

I believe that setting priorities (laundry, family time, prayer, bible study, etc.) is important to maintain a balance in life.  But the best part of all that is when we make time for fun.  For me, fun means crafting, shopping (for crafts), blogging & vlogging.  Today, I was all caught up with chores (because I have a terrific husband who helps me immensely and who took some of his vacation time to assist in much needed housework), so I decided to catch up on my blogging, vlogging, photo-taking and more.

I was involved in a chocolate box swap on A Little Scrap Of Heaven hosted by a lovely lady named Geordie from Australia, which consisted of purchasing a box of yummy chocolates (tough job, eh?), emptying it out (even tougher) and using the box as a host for craft goodies.  The person receiving did not know who was the sender, and so the task was to decorate the box in a vintage style using any colors you wanted.  Lately I have been very into Parisian things (decor, crafts, art, etc., - those of you who follow me on facebook know) and I decided that this would be the best theme to use.  I was very nervous at first because this was my first time altering a box (I've done frames and smaller boxes as  you've seen), but I was able to get past the intimidation (especially since the girl I had to send it to is kind of a guru on youtube and is part of a very popular design team).  I wanted it to be extra beautiful and tres glam.

I used Parisian Anthology paper by Pink Paislee and House of 3, and distressed it.  Added some trim, splashes of several pinks and tons of bling and flowers.  Inside I added tons of goodies for her to use (most of which were charms) and the box was completed the same day I started.  Impressive for me!!  Once I was done with the box, I thought to make a matching card.  I was just going to include a quick note, but I was so inspired by the colors and style that I just had to make it match the box.

Anyway, I have a video that shows the box in action along with the photos of this blog, so if you are interested please click the link below.

I hope you enjoy this post and are inspired to make your own Parisian-style box.

Be blessed.

BoBunny Timepiece Mini Edgy Album

Hi Lovers.

I'm proud to finally be able to share the mini album I made for my husband's 1st Father's Day,which took 7-8 days to complete, and for me that's SUPER FAST!  I usually take months to complete an album.

I wanted this album to be manly (for obvious reason), and have a steam punk feel to it, so it was difficult not being able to use flowers, butterflies and bling (all the easy, pretty and girly embellishments).  Instead, I replaced all that with gears, clocks and tons of chipboard.  The colors were inspired by the BoBunny Timepiece Collection and I bought so much stuff that I can make 2 new albums with whatever is left.  lol.

I'd like you to know (because I won't be giving a summary of each photo) that I try to find ways (while making mini albums) to create pockets and secret compartments for pictures, tags & journaling.  Some of the photos below might not show all the details behind what you see, but rest assure there are photos behind the tags and journaling as well.

Below you will find a 2 part video that shows more details about the work I did, the supplies I used and will answer any possible question(s) you may have.  Thank you all for stopping by and have a blessed day.
